Principal’s Message
Welcome to the website of Miami Lakes Educational Center and Technical College, a unique dual-learning environment set in the Town of Miami Lakes, Florida. It is my sincere hope that this website will assist you in making decisions about your educational and career future. The high school component of our campus includes approximately 1500 students organized into six rigorous, career-themed academies: Cambridge, Communications, Entrepreneurship, Health Science, Information Technology, and Trade & Industry. In each, the instructional program is designed around the integration of traditional academic learning with vocational-technical courses. In most instances, our high school students can earn both a high school diploma and a vocational certificate and/or industry certification by the time they complete twelfth grade.
Enrollment criteria include good attendance, conduct, effort and behavior, and a strong career focus. Students in our Cambridge Academy take a number of O-level and AS-level courses and exams as they pursue the internationally recognized AICE or Cambridge Diploma. And students in all other academies can take selected AICE courses as well as a wide array of Advanced Placement courses. We also offer the opportunity for students to take Dual Enrollment courses with local colleges. In addition to being a top-rated high school, MLEC & TC encompasses a fully accredited technical college offering a wide variety of programs including licensed practical nursing, medical assisting, patient care technician, cosmetology, culinary arts, heavy equipment operator, A/C & refrigeration, major appliance repair, CDL, diesel mechanic, electronics technology, production technology, and more. Programs vary in length from one to four trimesters, and all lead to industry certifications. Various forms of federal, state, and local financial aid are available to those who qualify.
